It only takes a little over three hours to drive from Portland to our resort near Bend. This means you have plenty of time both on your way and from the resort to discover some of the attractions that make our region such a popular vacation destination. To help you map out your trip, we’ve made a list of some of our favorite stops, which can vary depending on which route you take.
- Before leaving Portland, stop by Rose City Coffee Co., Upper Left Roasters, or Electrica Coffee for a much-needed morning caffeine boost. For a sweet treat, visit Doe Donuts or Pip’s Original Doughnuts & Chai.
- Once you’re properly fueled, hit the road before making a stop at Jonsrud Viewpoint in Sandy. This spot is known for providing visitors with some of the best views of Mount Hood.
- From there, keep driving until you reach the Mount Hood National Forest. This is an excellent spot to stop and stretch your legs or enjoy a picnic lunch.
- Stop and explore The Museum at Warm Springs. This spot is a great place to learn about the cultures that make up the Confederated Tribes of The Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon.
- If you decide to go the Santiam route, stop in Salem for a quick bite, then take a quick detour to the scenic. Silver Falls State Park. Here, you can find the Trail of Ten Falls, where you can view multiple waterfalls along a loop trail.
- Don’t forget to stop by Sisters on your way to Bend. The charming Old West town is home to great shopping and dining options.
